- There is no Music Night this month so I thought it would be a change to invite a speaker. Scott Perry entertained us all during the Club Party in May and has agreed to be our guest speaker on Saturday August 29th, starting at 8.30 for about an hour. He will talk about magic and his other projects. Please write your name on the list (as well as guests) if you are interested in coming along. BBQ to follow.
- STARTING THIS SATURDAY: LUNCHTIME FOOD IS AVAILABLE AGAIN – chips, ploughman’s, sandwiches, bacon butties etc., etc.
- Many of you will remember the members’ silver service dinners we used to enjoy at the Judges’ Lodgings. We are returning there this year, on Saturday 12th September. We shall meet in the club for pre-dinner drinks from 6.00pm and ladies will be offered a glass of Prosecco. We cross over the square and proceed to the Lodgings opposite for 7.00. This event is black tie / lounge suits. The cost is £35 by ticket only and places are limited. Please place you name on the list in the Club and purchase your ticket at the bar. Places cannot be “reserved” or held for others in advance I’m afraid. The menu is: Roasted Pepper Soup with Smoked paprika Mascarpone or Chicken Liver Pâté, followed by Roasted Topside of Beef with Sage Yorkshire Pudding served with a Red Wine Gravy – vegetarian option – followed by Hazelnut Pavlova with Vanilla cream and Forest Fruits or Lemon Tart with Clotted Cream and Fresh Raspberries. To conclude there will be tea or coffee and mints.
- Please feel free to use the club for business meetings and interest group meetings as well as the usual family events.

In hindsight I should have posted my Face book status as: “I’ve blown the head gasket on my 2001 XR3i” rather than “I’ve just buggered a 14 year old escort”.
The police still haven’t seen the funny side, my lap top’s been confiscated, and the wife has gone back to her mother
